| Favorite Quote | You pierce my soul. I am half agony, half hope. Pg. 222
| My Review | A classic for a reason. Good humor, great characters, and a swoon-worthy love letter. I adore Anne, her genuine kindness and critique of British high society made this story memorable. I can’t help but wonder how Austin’s readers reacted to this piece during their time.
I also enjoyed the Netflix adaptation! This might be my favorite Jane Austin novel and adaptation.

I wished we got more backstory of the original engagement, and some parts of the story dragged on a bit. But is was still a subtle, soft and a bit more mature love story. I really enjoy how most Austen hereoines are quite different from eachother, and Anne was definitely very different than Elizabeth or Emma, and represents a 19th century feminist. Oh and also, “You pierce my soul. I am half agony, half hope” could be one of the most beautiful love declarations I ever read.

first half is honestly a drag- interactions have little depth and the themes are overdone. second half is much better

I found this to be much more entertaining than Pride and Prejudice. And a very easy, quick read.
