Dark, well written play. Martin McDonagh is quickly becoming one of my favorite contemporary playwrights.

I know that I will come back and write a better review (longer at least) but for now I just want to say that "The Pillowman" is my most favorite play by Martin McDonagh until further notice and surely one of the best books I have ever read. I'd like to call it a "brilliant sunning violent work of art"!

The pillowman is a great play that explores the themes of totalitarianism in such great depth and in such an amazing way that helps you understand everything that would be happening that society. Obviously, you had people being framed for things they wrote rather than the actions that they actually do, which is a very prolific thing in actual totalitarian societies. There was a lot of police hierarchy in this, they were deemed as better and they could do anything in their power to put down the main character with he just being a regular writer. some Characters would be called hateful words by the police officers which really shows the hierarchy in that room. the play mainly send two rooms which would make staging for their very easily applicable.

So, so dark. I mean, really dark. Would love to see it performed live.
