Pucking Around by Emily Rath is a smutty why choose hockey romance. It’s very spicy. If you want to listen to a bunch of pro hockey players
f—k their hot doctor (and each other) in graphic detail then, wooooooweeeeeeee, do I have the audiobook for you.

Oh boy. I don’t even know where to start with this one. First of all, I knew it was a why choose romance. But I didn’t know anything else, so color me surprised when that third male character’s chapter started. Wowza.

All the narrators here are great. These guys can whisper into my ears anytime. Although, I always hate the guys doing the girl’s voice, but it is what it is. That Finnish goalie made it all worthwhile though. *sighs*

The edition I listened to included the novella prequel of That One Night. I’m really glad it did because it really laid the foundation for the book.

I love Rachel. She’s so bold and hilarious. Caleb’s story broke my heart. Jake was my fave after the prequel novella but he actually got on my nerves a bit. And, Mars made the story.

Ok, but let’s get to the nitty gritty of this one. This is not a book you read (or listen to) for the plot. There hardly is one. And yeah, some of the smut was way too over the top, even for me. Could it have been shorter? Absolutely. But it kept me very entertained during a grinding workweek.

📝 Okay so this book was super long but it makes sense that it is? It's a why choose with 1 FMC and 3 MMC's, and we get POVs from all four of them. And the book doesn't end when they all get together, it actually spends a good amount of time grappling with what it would mean for famous-ish people to be poly.

🎧 The narration for these characters was really good and nuanced overall. There was one thing that kinda bugged me with one of the narrators, but I was able to look past it after a bit. They did a good job with the sexual tension and the sexytimes, as well as the "normal" thoughts and feelings.

🌶️ 5/5. There is no other way to rate this book... It was chock full of hot sex. Like almost all the possible configurations of the four of them happen, there's a ton of fun and playfulness, there's a little bit of kinky stuff. And there was just a lot of sexy scenes 😆

🏳️‍🌈✊ It's a foursome (MFMM), so there's straight, bi, and queer rep amongst the MCs. As for other forms of diversity, there were one or two side characters that were explicitly not white but they barely get any page time. Even class-wise, 3/4 of them are like mega rich, there's really not a lot of diversity besides sexuality. But you can't be everything for everyone all at once. It's good at what it is.

The page count had me stuck – why would a romance need to be damn near 800 pages?? But damn if I didn't enjoy nearly every page. (There were 1 or 2 bits of dialogue that repeated.) Overall, I liked this way more than I thought I would.

This book was freaking amazing!! Honestly I loved it, it was something new and exciting!! It’s basically all smut, but the plot is still there! It was definitely very educational (if you know what I mean) and even if you maybe get scared because it’s kind of big 😉 it is definitely worth reading!!! It might not be everyone’s cup of tea, but I think you should still give it a try, cause you’ll probably love it!!🔥🥵♥️

I read the prequel to the book and thought it was great. But this book stunk. To start, Rachel came off as wushu-washy and manipulative in the book. The other characters, Jake, Caleb, and Ilmari, were more interesting. However, the relationship between them felt forced. Each guy had an insecurity and it soon felt like a competition. Anytime the book tries to approach that subject for a real conversation, it barely covers it before jumping into an excessive make out/ sex session. Ilmari joins the relation halfway into the book but it still feels forced. I especially found Ilmari to be more interesting. The storyline about his injury and background was better compared to the other plot. However I didn’t like his relationship with Rachel. The biggest issue was how she handled him and his bio dad. At first, Rachel didn’t know that Dr. Hella was his bio dad but then she pushes Ilmari to forgive him and form a relationship. I’m sorry, I can excuse Rachel not knowing who Dr. Hella was to Ilmari but to push him to accept him was the straw that broke the camels back.
