It was cute. Still no major villian, but it still checks all the relationship boxes as a PNR.

3.5 stars, rounded to 4

I enjoyed this third installment of the Black Dagger Legacy series, but it wasn't anything special. It was good solid Ward, but it didn't offer anything new or exciting.

Just FYI for potential readers, half of the book is devoted to Saxton's love story. I was expecting Blood Fury to be primarily about Peyton and Novo, but it really is split. I'm personally not into reading M/M romances, although I did enjoy Saxton's story for what it was.

I’m a little disappointed Saxton and Ruhn didn’t get a book all to themselves because I think they totally deserved it, but I also think with putting them and Payton/Novo in one book it took a little of my connection away I guess you’d say. My main problem with these spin offs and the newer BDB books, is that there’s a lot of back and forth with other characters. There’s been more than one romance in the last few and at times I get a little overwhelmed with how many things are going on.

I really liked the book, but at the same time I wouldn’t say I really loved much of the romance in this because it jumped so much. One minute someone’s gravely injured the next you’re with someone else’s POV from the other partnership working out at a gym or something just as stupid. I mean, it makes sense, shit goes on around us all the time but I was always left feeling like ‘no go back to them what’s going to happen’ and I was less inclined to care about who it had swapped to.
Spoiler
I also hated the Novo jumping to conclusions drama at the end. It was also resolved in an insta second. This dude went back to her after she basically said he had no substance lol and in a few seconds of her talking to him he’s like ok I forgive you let’s live together woo. Why couldn’t he hold a grudge for a bit like she does? She was about as dramatic as her dramatic sister lol.

But I also stayed up late two nights in a row to read it, I was fully captivated and while I’ll gripe about stuff, I will say there were some really cute scenes, and while I hate all the povs lately I do enjoy seeing this big huge family interact.

Also. Wrath is a fucking douchebag. I still cannot stand him. I don’t think I disliked him in his first book, but slowly but surely as this has all progressed I have grown to really dislike the way he speaks to people. King or not, you an asshole man.

Storie più semplici di quelle della serie principale ma sempre bello vedere i 'nostri' muoversi sullo sfondo tra le pagine... Poche sorprese, ma forse solo perché Ward scrive esattamente ciò che io voglio leggere.

Blood Fury wasn't just good; it was Ward's best in a long time. (While I skipped The Beast, I did come back for The Chosen.)

This wasn't a heavy saga of a book. This wasn't family drama in that way that forces you to cry a bunch. This was a sexy book about people falling in love. There were romantic overtures. There was personal growth. There were big declarations of love. There was hospital sex, because it's the Black Dagger Brotherhood and of course there was.

How do I rate this story? I hated Novo and Peytons story but I freaking LOVED Saxton and Ruhn! Omg they were so stinking adorable! And I am so glad that Saxton got his happy ending and with such a sweet male. They are the only reason I kept listening to this book. Because Novo was terrible. She would get mad at the dumbest things. She didn't want to get hurt again.. I understand that but I do not understand why being a bitch achieves that goal. She just hurt other people. And I guess Peyton was fine.. He was a sad little rich boy who thought he could solve all his problems with drugs, alcohol and random women. So yeah not really my fav.

But oh Saxton and Ruhn. I love you. Such a sweet freaking couple. So I'll give it 4 stars. For them alone. I hated Peyton and Novo. They gets zero stars.

I truly enjoyed this book. It was focused on two couples. Both couples had a similar deep down emotional issue regarding being hurt in the past and having Hope For Love in the future. focusing just on the two couples was a relief considering J R ward has a habit of having 50 storylines going on at once kind of like a TV soap opera. But this time things were simplified quite a bit and it didn't have a lot of the fighting like the first Black Dagger Legacy book which was like a huge hunger game type setting where they were constantly and physical battle and stuff which was really great. But this book really focused on relationships and I think she did a superb job I really like this book because it was focused on relationships it's still had a little bit of physical altercation so that it wasn't alien to the other books in her series. Her writing style was really great in this book for some odd reason it really seemed to shine with the way she has all those modern references to customs and society and terminology really flowed great. And who could not love Peyton when he was defending his love interest. I loved it. It was fabulous. I wish I had his gift of talk in my own situations like it. I was so excited I was practically taking my fist and pumping it in the air and say woohoo and telling everyone that I worked with what was going on in the book. I really like the ending. and there was some reference to the insane patients screaming in the background and I kind of forgot what character that is but she the author definitely did not want you to forget about that characters I'm kind of wondering if that's next who knows? but they had no reference to the brother of Quinn who is supposed to be getting therapy physical therapy in the medical ward and I was a little surprised by that cuz they were down in the medical ward a few times so I'm kind of curious why he wasn't in there at all. can't wait for the next book!

This was another beautifully executed story by J.R. Ward. She brought out a hundred and fifty emotions in me during this book. Those are the best kind for me.

I don't even know where to begin because there was so much going on in this book.

I guess I'll start with Novo and Peyton. Both are in the Black Dagger Brotherhood training program. Novo is from a medium income family and Peyton is filthy rich. Both are totally promiscuous and emotionally detached or stunted.  Novo is driven while Peyton is more of a quitter or maybe he just gets bored with things.

In a previous book, Novo seemed attracted to Peyton but he seemed to only have eyes for Paradise, another trainee who is already mated to one of the other trainees. Paradise is oblivious to it but everyone else sees it. Peyton propositioned Novo but she didn't feel like being a substitute for Paradise so she turned him down.

In this book, Peyton starts to realize he's attracted to Novo but they both have a really bad way of relating to each other. I got so frustrated with them that I just wanted to knock their hard heads together to wake them up.

Then there's Ruhn and Saxton. Saxton has been around in the series for a while but I never knew quite how I felt about him. He was just always so formal and polite which seemed a little stuffy and off-putting to me but he has always been loyal to the King and Brotherhood. Ruhn is a new character who was introduced in Blood Vow. He's quiet and polite but you just know he has some kind of past he's not proud of so it peaked my interest.

I was more interested in Ruhn and Saxton’s romance than Novo and Peyton's because of the way things developed and the way they handled Ruhn's past. They just seemed so much more mature than Novo and Peyton who caused most of their own problems by the way they behaved or misbehaved.

I think this series might be winding down but there are still stories to be told and questions to be answered like, What the hell is going to happen with Assail? Everyone hears him screaming non-stop somewhere in the medical clinic. What is going on with the Omega? Does Boone get a love story? And then I have a brain hiccup. I remember something happening to Throw but was never really sure what exactly happened. Can anyone explain that to me?

Anyway, I thoroughly lost myself in this book. I don't know how I'm going to wait another year for the next book.

Caldwell, NY and the Black Dagger Brotherhood will always hold a special place in my heart. No matter how tense or sometimes scary these books get, there is always something so comforting and relaxing for me about being in this world. These books have been with me longer than my children have been alive (and they are almost all grown) ;) I love this next generation, and I love seeing my old favorites come back and make appearances in these books in different ways. There isn't any point in my telling the premise of this story except to say, go back and start at the beginning. Yes, it is worth it.

This is not J.R.Ward at her finest.

This book lacks the passion and the emotion I know she can put into her characters. To tell you the truth, it was a bit of a chore to read this.

Also, do I see a theme here in the Legacy series? I'm tired of the glymera/civilian couple drama. What about civilian/civilian, glymera/glymera, vampire/human, vampire/shadow and even vampire/sympath?

That being said, the best part about this book was definitely Saxton and Ruhn. They were so much more interesting than Novo and Peyton. Oh, yes. Novo tired me with all her insecurities and Peyton just isn't my type of guy.

Anyway, I guess the next Legacy is about Boone. Might his lady love be poor Romina? Even if she isn't, I certainly hope she plays a bigger part in the series. Someone has to save the poor girl.
