This was my second time reading an Ania Ahlborn book and, thankfully, had a much better experience this time.

This book is gory and gruesome and so damn bleak. The atmosphere is stifling and there is something about watching the main character chafe against the only life he’s ever really known - knowing long before he does why he doesn’t fit in with the Morrows - that’s compelling.

The foreshadowing is very heavy handed (quite possibly intentionally so), so the “twist” isn’t really a twist but more the reader watching the main character unravel as he begins to see the true scope of whats happening. I honestly liked this approach better for this story rather than shooting for an unexpected twist reveal. I feel like this built up the suspense and helped the pacing/payoff balance.

I actually really enjoyed this. And the last couple lines were a way to end the story, damn.

I’ll definitely be reading more by this author.

.Best horror book I have read in a long time, definitely not for the faint of heart! Made me feel wonderfully uncomfortable with skin crawling gore and unpredictable twists. Made my little heart so happy!
I will be reading more from this author!

This is definitely the most twisted thriller/horror I’ve ever read.

Those last 40 pages….they were so twisted I had a hard time mentally preparing for what was on the next page. Great read; especially around Halloween.
