So this is an anthology of stories by authors who usually write in shared worlds with IP owned by someone else. (The Dungeons & Dragons fiction, or Star Wars fiction are examples of this.)

The wrinkle is, these are stories set in worlds of those authors' own creation. The the title, "Worlds of Their Own".

It's an interesting concept. Can these authors do as well in their own worlds as they do in shared worlds? I think the answer to *that* question, is yes: they can.

But that doesn't mean that the stories themselves are all that great. I've read many of those shared world novels, and my to-be-read pile has plenty more. And I'm really starting to tire of them. So much plot that seems like the plot from last time. These stories aren't a whole lot different.

Now, I *should* have done little mini reviews of each of the stories here, but that just didn't really happen. So I'll just say that some of the stories are forgettable; most are reasonably entertaining; but it's Elaine Cunningham's story that actually caught my attention. It's the star of this collection.

Overall, though: 3 of 5 stars.
