A sweet story about caring for community & the importance of uplifting one another to have strength amidst the trials of life. It was also a cute way to be told as a grandmother sharing her story of surviving the war, friendship, love, and passion to ignite purpose and pride in her granddaughters.

Wow, what a wonderful, warm and heartbreaking tale of courage, bravery and a determination to provide books for women, children and anyone that needed a place or a world to escape to in a time where the world was descending into chaos. These characters spring to life as they are based on people who lived and breathed those times, and it is based on a real underground library (obviously the characters and the story are made up) but some of the scenes actually happened and one of the most shocking and horrifying too. This throws are much sharper, warmer and hopeful side of Second World War and one in which brings it back to life. And I wholeheartedly agree that we need libraries now more than ever.

Some parts of it were good, but there was way too much just talking about sex, and when I finished I just kind of thought that overall it wasn’t very good.

Loistava kirja! En edes tiedä miten kuvailla tai sanoa. Miten sotaa kuvailtiin ja miltä ”normaali” elämä näytti, ja näyttää varmasti vielä nytkin pommituksen aikana. Uskomaton tarina miten kirjat ja lukeminen voi muuttaa ihmisen elämää.
