Read this to my 7 year old. She loved it. It was about a very relatable (for me, not her) experience of moving to a new place, but with the cool twists of a new planet and far out gadgets.

A space story for the younger set - they will love it. There are a lot of cool gadgets and space stuff but Jack is an average kid so there's still plenty to relate to.

Cute but not terribly substantial. New kid at school story with science fiction trappings.

I think this was a great book for it's target audience. It has a moving story, great art, and is a bunch of fun! Target audience is 2nd-3rd graders but it's a fun fast read for all.

This book is cute for 6-7 year olds. It's about a boy from earth who moves to the planet Nebulon. I'm sure your kids will love this story.

I read this with the eight-year-old boy I am tutoring! This book is great for kids that are transitioning from full-colour chapter books to black and white with smaller and sometimes less detailed illustrations. (It's also about an 'N' level for those using the levelling system).
The characters are by far the highlight of the series with the setting coming in at a close second. There's plenty of opportunity for conversation around comparing and contrasting Earth with Nebulon and Zack with Drake. When I asked my student if he wanted to continue he said "Yes because I kinda wanna see more places and find out more about the characters."
My only complaint is that the plot is kinda lacking in this first one. That said, the focus on character gives readers a chance to build a connection to the setting, premise, and characters. Based on the titles and covers of future books, I'm sure the plot will be a much bigger element of the rest of the series!

I'm a 25 year old and it's a kid's book, I know, but it was really really cute! It's a good story for kids who are nervous about moving to new place. I mean, sure, they probably aren't going to move to Neptune in our day and age, but it can be daunting to worry about life in a new place.

Also, the illustrations are absolutely adorable and fun. It's almost comic-book-esque in a sense, but it's also a chapter book. I liked having illustrations on every other page.

I'm trying to find books that are interesting enough to hold Leif's attention, but simple enough that he could see himself reading them. This book strikes that balance well. And it's fun enough that I don't mind reading it, and the chapters are short enough he feels he is getting something special because we can read two or three. Well done.
