2 stars only for how good the end was - as for the rest, did I miss the part where it explained WHY ???????????????

A story so familiar and that builds in a way that hardly feels dystopian. You’re left questioning the decisions you would make if home was a place your children no longer had a future.

Things described in this book are happening to real people right now.  So this book felt a little like “adversities for white people” and kept me thinking that, in order for the readers to empathise and think “it could happen to us!”,  the main protagonist had  be a white, highly educated, Irish woman.
