I remember picking this up as a teenager and loving the fact that Bride was a plus sized heroine who was able to snag a smoking hot dude. I cannot even begin to describe how teenaged me felt reading this. I felt seen and understood and the fact that Bride felt all the same things I did at that time was just the thing I needed. So when I saw that this was a chirp deal I snagged it up SO FAST.

The story is still a favorite. Bride is a wonderful character and reading as an adult you can see and feel all of the issues she has been going through as a plus sized woman. She is a victim of how society sees plus sized women and it came to a head at the end where Bride very graciously says "you know what? I do deserve this and I am worthy of being loved like this" and it was amazing.

It's a typical HEA for these two characters and I did love diving back in to a story I previously loved as a chubby teenager. Some parts of the story don't hold up and I couldn't completely immerse myself in it. I know these guys are immortal and have money just lying around but I found myself personally getting icked by the all money Vane just threw around like it was nothing (and to them, honestly, it is nothing but it wasn't for me this time around). And the insta-love on his part would have made adult me run for the hills so fast.

But all that aside I did love coming back to Bride and Vane. And I still love Bride for deciding she is worthy of all the things she wants in life, regardless of the body she is in. Because we love our bodies no matter the size. We are all worthy of the things we want in life. Haters gonna hate after all.

I love werewolf / shifter books! I haven’t been reading this series in order, so this is my first shifter book from it. It was good! I feel like it was simpler than other books in this series, where there is just too much going on.

I liked Bride! Yes, she’s self conscious. But she TOTALLY has reason to be because her last boyfriend was a JERK. After years of that emotional abuse, anyone would have her doubts. And at many points she is very confident, like the first time she meets Vane.

Night Play, book 7 of the Dark-Hunters/Were-Hunters series, by Sherrilyn Kenyon (McQueen) @mysherrilyn. This is a reread of this series for me. Long overdue, at that! 😂 I am reading this series in the order from Sherrilyn’s website/Goodreads.

I thoroughly enjoyed & loved reading this book about Bride & Vane. There was more about Acheron & Valerius, too. And we got introduced to Fury & Fang, Vane’s brothers. If you like fated mates, PNR, shifters, MF, yep, this book is for you.
