It's so unbelievably rare for your favorite childhood books to hold up, but god, this series does. Sure, some of the language and jokes at times can be a bit dated/inappropriate, but Rennison just wrote how I like to believe, at times, all 14-year-old girls can be: a mix of selfishness, crush-obsessed, and a whole lot of self-reflection. In a way, Georgia Nicolson is so iconic because she doesn't try to be "not like other girls." She just simply is like other girls, a character that's just too easy to relate to.
In short: there isn't another book like this one, and I don't think I'll ever find it. Ace gang 4ever and ever <3

The five stars are from my younger self because I laughed out loud and immensely loved reading this entire series. If you are thirteen or so I highly recommend this series because this series stayed consistently clever and witty. Not to mention her diary entries were always amusing.

This 3 star is because I AM BEING NICE. I read this in my youth and remembered laughing when I was 13 or so at this series but hooooo boy, you can tell this was written in the late 90s/early 2000s 😮💨 I definitely had nostalgia goggles on when thinking back on this. But the author told a pretty funny personal story at the back of the book. The author is genuinely funny when she’s just telling stories, I hope she learned and grew as a person as time went on. Might read the rest of the series just to see if it gets better.

Slightly mad, snarky YA. Normally not really my cuppa, but this one did make me laugh.

I read this book because it was on a list of banned/ challenged books. I didn't see anything inherently wrong with it. It's a bit silly and talks about sex quite a bit, but please tell me which teen girl group doesn't mention it some?
