This memoir was so well written and the audiobook (narrated by the author herself) really brought her experiences to life. She was raw and open and showed incredible grace and forgiveness in the end, in spite of her trauma. I did end up taking a huge break during this while waiting to get it back from my library, so I did have a disjointed reading experience, so I think that did interrupt my enjoyment about, but that’s no fault of the author.

Really good, and worth a read, even if you don’t know a ton about Viola Davis, which I will confess, I did not. She speaks more about her life than her acting, and I really appreciated that.

Such a wonderful, pointed, and truly visceral memoir. Davis is a tour de force on stage, on screen, and in this book. She engages in radical truth-telling about her journey practicing vulnerability, authenticity, humor, and celebrates what it means to simply live a life. This is a book that I wish I could read/head again for the first time. Highly recommend.
