"Abbiamo vissuto qualcosa che i nostri genitori non hanno vissuto. La guerra ci ha reso piú vecchi di loro. E quando sei piú vecchio dei tuoi genitori, che fai? Chi ti insegna a campare?"

🌈 The Great Believers by Rebecca Makkai… get your tissues ready. 5 shining stars to this novel🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟 poignant characterisation, balanced and evolving plot lines corresponding over two different settings, and riveting social discourse. 🫶 A beautiful, devastating must read. ☕️ This book accompanied me on a lazy Sunday mornings, and lazy Sunday afternoons to one of my fav art museums in the city. 🖼️

I loved this book so much. At times it was difficult to read, but I think that's a testament to how well-written and fully-realized the characters were, especially Yale. I adored him and just wanted him to be happy, healthy, and loved. This book built tension in a really organic way and felt true-to-life. I appreciate that it managed to be emotional and touching without tipping over into the melodramatic.
