This was so incredibly good and I couldn't wait to review it.

On the surface, there's so much that I usually dislike in a book: revolving pov, "animals" who are sentient enough to make their thoughts known to people, a twee setting. And yet it ALL works.

Baking Bad was the antidote to a stressed mind. The comedic parts were actually funny - chuckle aloud funny - not I'm just laughing because that's what the author wants. And then, in the midst of it all, there was a brief scene with a throw-away comment that had me in tears. Powerful writing. In a cosy!

I could rave on and on about the sheer joy this story brought me, but it is far better to experience it for yourself.

Cosy, farcical and fun - I'm intrigued to get more background on the dragons as the series goes on. Mystery itself was incredibly obvious from very early on, so one to read for the yummy food descriptions and silly hijinks rather than for quality of the murder mystery itself.

The setting is really cute and fun. There are rare glimpses of witty humor and snarky dialogs/comments which could have made it a fun read all together but unfortunately these moments were too rare and the writing was just too slow for me. It all felt very one note. The characters while being based on interesting ideas stayed one dimensional and their one feature was repeated and repeated.
Many great ideas, nothing flashed out, instead the story was filled with just a lot of coziness.

BAKING BAD was a fun cozy mystery set in the UK. After a local vicar is poisoned, a group of ladies who enjoy baking set out to find the murderer. They happen to be friends with several dragons, who are hiding their existence from most humans, who complicates the investigation of DI Adams. I found the scenes with the dragons to be the most delightful part of this paranormal cozy mystery. They completely stole the scene with their charming mannerisms and quirks. I also enjoyed DI Adams’ frustrations with the investigations and Miriam and Alice’s efforts to thwart her. The mystery at times dragged just a tad, but overall this was a lovely cozy with quaint descriptions and lots of yummy foods. 4/5 stars.

I just didn’t care for the fantastical characters in the modern day world. Dragons with iPads just didn’t appeal to me.
