I have always been concerned about horror attractions because wouldn’t they be the perfect place for a serial killer to go on a spree?! As this story proves, YES! 🫣 Thank you for bringing my secret fear to life, Noelle Ihli lol

I had a couple of very minor irks while reading (like when multiple characters started internally referring to an unfamiliar boy as “Freckle Face”) but overall this was a fantastic read. This book claims to be a thriller, but I would really put it firmly in the slasher horror genre. It’s interesting (and bloody!) pretty much right away. Ihli does a great job keeping the story moving and the reader hooked! I’m going to have to add more of her titles to my TBR!

The Thicket was an average horror-thriller for me. The beginning was full of inane teenage chatter, which made the story feel boring and slow despite the short number of pages. The 70% mark was where this really picked up and got interesting. Go Norah!

Dark and tense. Very quick read, good pace.
ending was a little disappointing and abrupt. Didn't like that they went for the last twist "killer is still alive" felt it would have been stronger to have him dead. Also wasn't keen that his motive wasn't explored, that he was just a killer for killing sake.
