Really cute book!! I'm not usually a fan of enemies to lovers or misunderstanding tropes, but I thought the aurthor did a good job in showing that it was simply how they didnt understand rach other rather than just being mean. Some of the misunderstandings at the end got a little old, but i was in happy tears by the end!!!

Thank you to One Chapter and Netgalley for the eARC in exchange for an honest review!

I loved The Italian Job! It had great banter, “Who did this to you” vibes, and I loved the characters (especially Jake and the relationship he has with his family).

This was a fantastic Slow burn, enemies to lovers/fake dating romance! There were some spicy scenes that are well written (aka not overly cliche/cringe). There is a third act breakup with some miscommunication but it’s a miscommunication that Actually works for the story and matches Jake’s character/who he is so it made sense for the story instead of being frustrating. There was also great character development throughout and I got teary eyed at times.

I did have two pet peeves though which knocked half a star off my original rating: 1) the author confuses Star Wars with Star Trek (blasphemy) - She references the fictional Klingon language but attributes it to the Star Wars films (it may seem small but it’s something that irks me when the internet exists for things like this to be double checked).
2) The relationship between Jake’s mom and  Anna’s dad. It becomes a  grey area/weird relationship dynamic for our MCs because if their parents end up together THEY WOULD BE STEP SIBLINGS 🤢 it’s not illegal but I don’t like that in my romance novels.

Overall the book is well written and a perfect romance novel for the summer!

Romance tropes in this book: enemies to lovers, fake dating

Sub tropes: forced proximity, bad boy x good girl, childhood neighbors/girl next door
