Thank you to One Chapter and Netgalley for the eARC in exchange for an honest review!

I loved The Italian Job! It had great banter, ā€œWho did this to youā€ vibes, and I loved the characters (especially Jake and the relationship he has with his family).Ā

This was a fantastic Slow burn, enemies to lovers/fake dating romance! There were some spicy scenes that are well written (aka not overly cliche/cringe). There is a third act breakup with some miscommunication but itā€™s a miscommunication that Actually works for the story and matches Jakeā€™s character/who he is so it made sense for the story instead of being frustrating. There was also great character development throughout and I got teary eyed at times.

I did have two pet peeves though which knocked half a star off my original rating: 1) the author confuses Star Wars with Star Trek (blasphemy) - She references the fictional Klingon language but attributes it to the Star Wars films (it may seem small but itā€™s something that irks me when the internet exists for things like this to be double checked).
2) The relationship between Jakeā€™s mom andĀ  Annaā€™s dad. It becomes aĀ  grey area/weird relationship dynamic for our MCs because if their parents end up together THEY WOULD BE STEP SIBLINGS šŸ¤¢ itā€™s not illegal but I donā€™t like that in my romance novels.Ā

Overall the book is well written and a perfect romance novel for the summer!Ā

Romance tropes in this book: enemies to lovers, fake dating

Sub tropes: forced proximity, bad boy x good girl, childhood neighbors/girl next door
