Interesting, albeit confusing, premise, but the characters are underdeveloped and both the dialogue & Jonah's internal monologue seem very inauthentic.

Sci-fi fun read. There is a lot suspense and mystery as always in Haddix books.

Found (The Missing #1) is a fun middle-school story that follows the exploits of Joshua, his step sister Katherine, and Joshua's friend Chip as Joshua and Chip both receive mysterious notes that lead them down a road of discovery that changes their understanding of who they are and their role in an event that happened 13 year earlier. Joshua's younger step sister, Katherine, while experiencing the beginning of sibling rivalry, steps up to help her step brother and friend try to find the source of the notes as the trio becomes a target of people that, at times, don't even seem to exist.
The FBI and an assortment of shadowy figures all have their place in this tale and its ending will surely lead readers gratefully into the rest of this well-written time travel series.
Well done, Margaret Peterson Haddix!

Jonah's always known that he was adopted, and for he's never thought that much about it until he begins receiving mysterious letters connected to his past. He joins with his sister Katherine and his friend Chip to discover what happened.

Haddix weaves a suspenseful tale that slowly builds to a cliffhanger climax. Jonah spends a bit too much time in the beginning trying not to face the truth which is frustrating to the reader who really wants to know what's going on. Chris Sorensen does a nice job of voicing all the characters.
