I loved Skip and Loafer from the start, but Takamatsu Misaki really knocked it out of the park with this volume!!!
In the end of volume 3, Takamatsu mentioned how she wanted to make Skip and Loafer in a way that everyone can relate to it, and not just a specific group of people and GODDAMN she succeed in doing so.
The fact I can see myself in every character,relate to their struggles, feelings and understand them on a deeper level just shows how amazing this manga is.
In addition, going into this manga I thought it would be just another wholesome cutesy school romance , while in reality it's SO MUCH MORE THAN THAT!! I don't know how Takamatsu is able to do it, but addressing such topics while still maintaining the cheerfulness and the lighthearted vibe is a skill of its own.
So, why volume four?
While the other volumes were amazing as well, I feel like this volume in particular showed us the characters from a side that we have never seen before ( I'm trying to make the review spoiler free so I won't say who) and at the same time, make us realize this manga doesn't have antagonists or 100% evil characters.
Not everything is black and white, just like in real life. Therefore, I found myself symphizing with a character that I hated with a passion, realising that they have their own problems and reasons for doing such horrible things and yet the mangaka makes a point of showing us that still it doesn't justify or make the bad actions of that character more forgivable which I think is an important point to make.
That concludes my review that I really wanted to make.
