There’s nothing I love more than a great spooky vampire book set in New Orleans to read during the fall as we get into spooky season. My absolute favorite thing in a book is when an author immerses you so deeply in a setting that it’s like taking a vacation to that place and THE BINDING had such a great Louisiana vibe, with our MC, Sybella Rose moving to New Orleans for a fresh start where she’s immediately immersed in everything the city has to offer, gumbo and beignets, crème brulee and shrimp boils. I loved reading the lavish descriptions of the French Quarter and the restaurants, which the author describes in wonderful detail, and as Sybella meets some new friends Aloysius and Josephine and realizes the vampires from her favorite novels are real, is it a teen romance come true, or is her life in danger? Demien is the most dangerous vampire in New Orleans, but he’s also connected to her in a way she doesn’t quite understand. With vampires and ghosts, powerful paranormal creatures wanting to control the city and a romance between Demien and Sybella that heats up every page, I loved this! 5/5 stars.
