Can't decide between this or a solid 3 rating. It was just...okay. I would strongly recommend NOT reading the first book in the series called Over Sea, Under Stone. I found it extremely annoying and it left a bad taste in my mouth for the three sibling characters. They return in this book and since I already had a bias of dislike, I felt annoyed seeing them pop up again, as the second book focuses on a more likeable main character. I think if I hadn't read the first book I wouldn't have felt annoyed in seeing them return. Story-wise, I'd say this book is rather weak overall. Of course they make the Romani gypsy character evil, because that's just what they did back then. Very much a product of the times and lamely cliché, to say the least. It's an older series, and those stereotypes are something I expect but am not fond of.

Other than that, there is always some amount of mysteriousness that never gets explained in this series. I don't mind that, but some people might feel annoyed. There are just things in the story that are never fully explained and you have a sort of vague understanding and that's all you'll get. I still have two books to go, but I can't imagine that it will change. It's not a bug, it's a feature.

I did like the idea of the Greenwitch and this sort of homage to the preservation of cultural aspects of different small towns that have been going on for centuries.

*spoiler* Jane choosing to spend her wish on the Green Witch elevated my opinion of her character for the rest of the story. I like when characters act selflessly without making a big deal of it. *end spoiler*

Still good, but I don't like it quite as much as Books 1 and 2. There are some cool bits here though - and she does a good bit of introducing the Drew children to Will Stanton and bringing their storylines together.
