super bizarre conglomeration of historical artists and writers on an absinthe fueled fantasy/nightmare. it was strange and i liked it. that i didn't like it more was because of my lack of knowledge regarding modernist painters. i really enjoyed bertozzi's art and will hunt down some of his other titles.

Creative and interesting use of personalities, but not sure I recommend it.

Crazy historical fantasy about the painters in Gertrude and Leo Stein's salon taking special "blue absinthe" that lets them actually enter paintings. Copious murders and sex keep it from being twee.

I learned that Picasso— as interpreted through the mind and ink of Bertozzi— is flippin' hilarious! I wish I could get my hands on some of that blue absinthe.

Is it bad that I gave it 3 stars because I feel that I didn't really get everything in this book? It was imaginative and interesting, but there were some figures that I wasn't familiar enough with to really make sense of it all.
