Finn's Rocket is the next installment of the kids action series. It is summer vacation and Gabby is headed to Space Camp while Finn is in the rocket competition. Gabby is a bit apprehensive at first, but soon finds that she is enjoying the Space Camp experience. Things go horribly wrong when the camp director has nefarious plans of her own that involve sending Gabby into space. Finn races to the rescue talking his way onto a commercial space flight. However, finding Gabby and bringing her home safely are two different things.

I am kind of torn about this book. It seems as if it can't decide if it is for the middle grade crowd, as Gabby's side of the story, and the cover art, is appropriate for, or for older teens as Finn's side of the story is. I do feel that kidnapping for unauthorized experiments and fatal terrorist attacks have little place in fun fiction for elementary school kids. That said, the story is action packed and always moving full speed ahead. The supporting characters add greatly to the story and the plethora of science and geography information included makes this a terrific adventure. Certainly it something the Jr High crowd and up will enjoy

Finn’s Rocket is a story about kids going into space! One rollercoaster read. What twists and turns…. Kids as astronauts! This book has all of this and more. This is the first book of the Finn adventure series that I have read and once I got over the fact that it was a book that told a story about very intelligent kids I really enjoyed it.

Finn and his sister Gabi both join the Kennedy Space center for the holidays so both of them can do what they love. The twist in the tale is when he is unable to contact his sister and decides to investigate.

He has help from unexpected people and the takes off on an unforgettable adventure. The story teaches the readers about not giving up and working against the odds. The challenges Finn faces and overcomes are good lessons for the children.

Often we underestimate our kids and yet if we give them our support we would be surprised at what they can achieve. The book has all elements to make it a fun and fast read. The suspense, mystery and drama along with the mind blowing adventure will make any kid a fan of Finn’s Adventure. A good read.
