The book was good but the storyline and some of the fantasy plot points were quite confusing. I also feel like the book could have been cut shorter and that the main relationship could have been better developed (some stuff didn’t make sense and too much back and forth). Nonetheless, I still enjoyed reading it and it made me feel things which is something I love in a book (I cried like 3 times).

So much about this book i loved! The letters they wrote to each other were beautiful. My only real issue with this book is I like a little more slowburn to my romance and I felt like they got together a little too quickly for my taste. I love the world and can’t wait to read more books in this series so I can learn even more about the world! I feel like the world could’ve been described a bit better as I had trouble picturing it. I can’t picture what the “autoducks” and “equimeres” are because they never really described them. I hope the world is expanded on in the rest of the series!

I can see how some people would love this one, but overall it just wasn’t for me. I was a little bit hesitant to begin with because it has been tagged as a “cozy fantasy” and I wasn’t sure if that was my thing, but I figured I would give it a try. Unfortunately, I wasn’t all that into the book. I didn’t find myself invested in the characters or their relationship, or engaged in the plot of the “mail/mysterious writer” component. I think I am just used to books that are higher stakes, so although this book was a 2 star for me it doesn’t mean it is a bad book. I just give ratings based on my personal experience and enjoyment reading it.
