It was fine. I like the setting and the professions of the characters.

Having no doubt that Ms. Sinclair would pull off yet another marvelous story, I was not disappointed with this one. Part of the 1,001 Dark Nights stories she has brought Atticus and Virginia to the Mountain. I've capitalized that because it should be. There are appearances from some of our favorites from the Mountain Masters and even Dark Haven. Atticus and Gin are meant to be, they just fight against it ... until they can no longer.

Loved it!

I have loved every book I have read of Cherise Sinclair's. Each one is a 5 star read for me. Atticus and Gin did not disappoint. Especially with Gin thinking BDSM was just made up for stories in books. LOL! I enjoyed their ups and downs. Them trying to figure out their relationship with both of them having a crazy family history that left scars. I love how she incorporates the Dom's and Sub's from her other books into each story. Can't wait for more. I hope we get a book on sexy broken Sawyer. Another hit! 5⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Actually 3.75 stars.

Detective Atticus Ware has moved to California to be close to his brother, Sawyer, a former soldier with PTSD who was involved in a tragic drunk driving accident that killed his (also drunk) friend. He hates Sawyer's prison psychologist, who seems to be making the survivor's guilt and PTSD worse. What Atticus does like is BDSM newbie Virginia, whom he meets at a BDSM retreat.

When social worker Virginia Cunningham fled a disastrous relationship, she took a new job far away from home -- as a prison psychologist. She mostly hates her new job and her uncaring colleagues, but sticks with it for the few bright spots, like her new patient, Sawyer Ware. However, prison employees aren't supposed to date inmates' family members, and Atticus dislikes psychologists. But even after they sort that out, a prison break will threaten the lives of everyone involved.

So, unlike many Lexi Blake books, this book is less about the BDSM and more about the relationship between the characters -- both between Virginia and Atticus, and Atticus and his brother. The suspense plot definitely takes precedence over the romantic plot (at least, after the beginning weekend retreat), leaving it unbalanced, though that is somewhat countered by the deeper psychological explorations of the characters. It's still a good book, though maybe not as good as it could be.

Yet another good read from the pen of Ms Sinclair, not as good as others she has written but still that means just a shade off brilliant. Enjoyed catching up with everyone from the previous books in the Dark Haven and Mountain Masters series.
The best news was at the end and learning that I get an extra special present this birthday!!!!! Thanks Cherise!! A new Shadowlands book is released on 28 July this time featuring Mistress Anne. What a great present.

Another great instalment. I felt that this one lacked a little of the usual punch of heat that the rest of the series had. But the character development was really stellar as always. I love the name Atticus. I wasn't too keen on the prison aspect but then it was essential to the story so it is forgiven. It was an interesting twist that she was the therapist at the prison where his brother was. I didn't like when Atticus said "this is all the modesty I’ll allow you". Not all people into bdsm are exhibitionists. Not all women like being on display or being in the presence of others when they are intimate with someone. And not all men like that either. So having a character that is quite modest but making her uncomfortable by scening in public wasn't too appealing at the beginning. The intricate rope/human macramé was unusual and quite remarkable. I thought Logan was a bit of an ass in this one though. I liked the addition of Trigger and the rescue scene was suspenseful. Again, as with the previous book, the only real downside for me was seeing that Dixon has been collared and is happy with a dom. Why couldn’t he get his own story? Nothing wrong with adding a little m/m romance into a series. I think he deserves his own book.
Overall, another captivating read by one of my favourite saucy romance authors.
