I was reluctant to start 'The Iron Queen'. I'd always wanted to read it eventually, but I wasn't as impressed by the first two books as others were. I enjoyed them, but I was in no hurry to read 'The Iron Queen'. I'm now a little angry at myself for waiting so long. 'The Iron Queen' shocked me with how intense and emotional it was. I imagined I'd enjoy it, but I never thought I'd love it as much as I did (which sounds terrible, but it's the truth). I definitely want to go back and read the first two books again, I'm certain I'd love them more now and I feel sort of bad thinking they were only 'enjoyable'.

Meghan's journey is slowly coming to an end. She's been through quite a few traumatic experiences; she's lost her brother, fought the Iron King, been held captive by Queen Mab, faced Iron Knights and hordes of Iron Fey and been exiled from all of Faery. You'd think she'd have a chance to take a breath or two, but instead she finds herself forced to take on the False King, the man controlling the Iron realm who has set out to destroy the Nevernever. It's a hard task to complete, especially when the Iron realm is spreading so quickly, bringing death to the Summer and Winter realms.

I felt really bad for Meghan (and Ash and Puck, who are always there to protect Meghan from danger). She doesn't have many choices in this book, and it seems like a hopeless quest to save all of Faery. But despite this, it gave Meghan a chance to grow a lot. She learns how to work her way through dangerous situations and it gives her a taste of responsibility, and she learns how to to fight! I love seeing heroines join in the fighting, it show's they're not just there to look pretty.

I adored all the Ash-Meghan moments and I wish there had been more of them. There were a few times when I wanted to hit Meghan over the head for things she said and did, but I had to remember that Ash and Meghan grew up in different worlds, and the way they act (or react) isn't always the way you hope it would be (Meghan, Ash is a Fey KNIGHT! He wants to protect you, that's his role!).

I guessed a fair bit of the plot early in the novel, and it was nice to see it confirmed later, but I wish I'd seen the ending coming. I'm so glad I have 'The Iron Knight' already, because I'm dying to see how the series ends.

all I have to say is wow....no series has had that effect on me in quite some time. to say I'm impressed would be an indefinite understatement. I loved everything about this book!! ash and meghan's relationship was amazing and how they grow together throughout the book and series! I ended this book in a freaking puddle of tears and usually I'd be pissed about that...but with this book, I'm not. such an amazing piece of work.

Book 3 in the series didn't disappoint! In fact, I would say Julie Kagawa is getting better with experience. I was riveted, especially during Part Three. I've already started book 4 because I can't get enough of these characters.

Actual rating: 3,5 stars.

After the disappointment of the second book, I was a little weary to go into this final part of the story of the Iron Fey. But I was relieved to find that I liked it a lot more than the previous one! I felt more of a connection to the characters and there were a little less eye-rolling moments. I still don’t like Meghan that much, though. Which is a problem since she’s the main character.
The reason I liked this one better than the second book, is because Ms Kagawa gave a fabulous spin to the story and created an ending I didn’t expect at all.

Although I already guessed the identity of the false king in the second book, that didn’t bother me all that much. Yes, it would have been nice if it had been a little less obvious, but hey, the ending was still really, really good.
As to the many comments I made about the romance drama in this series: the love triangle has somewhat abated and although I still can’t understand why Meghan would fall for Ash instead of Puck, I was ok with it. If she doesn’t want him, all the more Puck for me, I guess!

Once again this was a very entertaining book, with some humor and great situations (like the flying beetles, how great was that? I’d like to ride one of those, one of these days!). The book reads very smoothly, as do the other two in the series. I also really like the way Ms Kagawa describes the landscapes and curious creatures in the NeverNever, she has a talent for writing captivating descriptions.
The one thing that really annoys me about these books, is the repetitive mentioning of certain things. For example: Grimalkin is washing his paws… AGAIN. Ash is brooding… AGAIN. It’s really annoying and it takes the smooth flow out of the story at some points.

My conclusion about the whole Iron Fey series: it wasn’t that bad, it was better than the Trylle trilogy for example, and I really liked the story in the first and last book, but it lacks the quality I’m looking for in my books. I’ve been thinking about that for some time now and I’m wondering if I’ve just outgrown YA books or if it’s the quality of the YA books these days that doesn’t meet the expectations. I have the feeling most YA authors want to put in elements that have been popular in other books, but by doing this they lose a lot of their real potential and their own identity.
But then again, maybe it IS just me getting older, and that’s just scary!

Wow just wow this book just blew my mind. I was hanging on every word, the characters are just amazing and the ending phew it had me angry, in tears then so happy LOL! This book took me on such an emotional ride and the outcome is just amazing, I'll be hanging on for the next book The Iron Knight. :D If you haven't read this series yet I highly recommend giving it ago. Trust me, you won't be disappointed. ;D

3.5 stars.

Somehow in this book characters did not seem to me so believable. Meghan irritated me a lot and Ash was too emo-style. Something was missing so that I could relate to the heroes...

Although for Grimalkin I'm ready to give 5 or 5000 stars every moment! Iove that cat!!! I so do hope he will appear a lot in the last book!
