In this third Iron Fey novel by Julie Kagawa we find that Meghan is once again called upon to stand up to the Iron Fey or part of her legacy will die.
Meghan Chase our main character is an heiress to a legacy she never dreamed of. She is the half-mortal daughter of Oberon, King of the Summer Cour of fey. Meghan finds herself in the middle of another epic faerie battle against the ever encroaching Iron Fey. Technology proves fatal to faerie magic, but as a half-bread, only Meghan can withstand Iron glamour and Fey glamour.
Unlike the previous two novels I had a hard time reading this just a little. I did enjoy the characters of Puck, Grimalkin, and Ironhorse from the previous Fey novels. At last Meghan's indecision about her feelings for Ash and Puck are finally resoved her but we do get another girl delima of if she should rush to a physical relationship or not.
There are a few story lines from the previous two books that are given a bit of resolution including Meghan's father who is introduced in The Iron Daughter. Honestly I cannot wait to read the conclusion The Iron Knight to see what happens with Ash and Puck as he finds away to beat Iron and be with the girl he loves.

Star Rating: 5 stars
Note: This is the 3rd book in the original Iron Fey quartet as well as the 3rd book in the over-arching Iron Fey series so this will not be an in-depth review.
As previously mentioned, I am attempting to re-read the entire Iron Fey series in preparation for the release of book 8, The Iron Raven, and I was recently able to finish book 3, The Iron Queen. This book wraps up the journey of Meghan Chase, the ½ fey/ ½ human daughter of the king of the Summer fey, to discover where she truly belongs. Due to the fact that it is part of an over-arching series, it is not the conclusion of the arcs of all of our main characters, but as previously mentioned, it is the conclusion of Meghan’s story, although she does feature in later books.
I have stated throughout my re-read that I am impressed with how much research Kagawa put into this series. She updated troupes and characters that could very well get stale in interesting and ingenious ways, but not enough that they are unrecognizable, which is the reason why it my favorite fey series. However, my favorite thing about this book and series in general is the characters. For instance, I love Meghan’s character arc, especially since I relate to her on a deep emotional level as I was a lot like her when I was her age. Besides that, I really like how she handles the decisions she has to make over the course of this book as instead of being selfish like most YA main characters of her era, she makes decisions based on what would be best for her friends, family, and relationship. Speaking of her relationship, I actually love Meghan and Ash’s dynamic, although it can be problematic, because he does try to make sure that the power balance was less skewed towards him and that Meghan is calling the shots, particularly when it comes to their intimate relations, especially for books of this era. Finally, when most second leads would be bitter and toxic when their romantic notions are destroyed, Puck surprised me in the way he handled it, choosing to put Meghan’s happiness first even if it doesn’t involve him.
All in all, I am greatly enjoying this re-read and I personally think this series holds up to time. 5 stars and excited to keep reading!!!!

What ANOTHER great story (does she ever stop?). There was such bravery and romance along with action. It was addicting to read and I was sad it finished.

I didn't think it was possible that I would love this installment more than the previous two... but I was proven wrong. Julie Kagawa is an author unlike no other. I am always stunned as she manages to create a world that is so incredibly vivid. Everything seems to play out before you; whether it's a wicked action scene, or a gorgeous description of Nevernever, I am in awe.
The characters are like no other in this book, seriously. What could possibly be better than a talking cat alongside a brave girl, an icy prince and a sarcastic fellow? These characters are apart of an adventure that is like no other, and this third installment was NO disappointment. I could not stop reading this book! I was swept away as the action got more intense by the second. The pace of this book was unbelievable, from the moment I started, there was no way I was closing it....no way.
Megan, Ash and Puck are still banished from Nevernever after their adventure ended in The Iron Daughter. I was so pumped to see them all back together again, but I was waiting for the adventure to rise up...and it did. Turns out that back in Nevernever, the new Iron King is slowly spreading his power. This spread is like a deadly poison spreading onto Nevernever's land. Fey are dying, and hope seems to be slipping away. It isn't a pleasant sight, and it looks as if Mab and Oberon know what they need in order to fight the false King.
Looks like the key to destroying the reign of the false King is Megan. If her, Ash and Puck are able to defeat him, their banishment will be forgotten. This is an adventure like no other. Megan, along with those to help her have to do whatever they can to venture over to the false King's territory to end all power and control. Along the way, Megan meets new people, searches for a lost memory and discovers more about herself. Relationships are tested, and choices have to be made... Kagawa did not disappoint with this book let me tell you, it was everything I could have asked for.
Aside from the action and plot, I loved how things developed in this book. Megan changes, becomes stronger and even braver. Each book has shaped her identity and I felt that in this book, she really shined. Her and Ash were just breathtaking together in this book as well, their romance is indescribable and seems so effortless. I see them as two puzzle pieces that just fit together so....right. Their love for each is crazy; they are so loyal to each other, and I feel that they make one another braver in a sense. Overall, i just loved this book, and after the CRAZY cliffhanger that ended this book, I am so, so anxious to read The Iron Prince to see Ash's point of view. I need to know what happens next!
