Just extremely sweet. I got into the TV series first, which turns out to be very faithful to the books.

Lovely. Wish I could have grown up with these, honestly.

Three books in and I fear this series just isn’t for me. I still want to continue, since they’re such quick reads and I don’t dislike them, I just feel like I am past the point of being the intended audience for these books.
In this book specifically, there were a couple of times that I cringed at the “quirky high schooler” talk of keyboard smashing and one too many “why are we like this.”
Still a sweet series, I’m excited to watch the show once I’m done since I’ve heard really good things.

I feel like if these books had come out when I was a teenager I would have been ALL OVER them. Not just because I would have been able to connect differently to the storyline, but also because I think a lot of the topics Oseman covers would have felt fresher and less overdone. At this point though, it started to feel as though she was trying to cram in as many possible "serious" topics as she could, (view spoiler) but none got the time that they needed for such heavy topics. I obviously think that these things should be talked about more and normalized, but I feel as though there are better ways to do it than cramming everything into a short graphic novel.

I will say though, I like the idea of these books and they've been cute so far. And honestly, if this is a solid intro to graphic novels for people, or if people find connections in the book that they need to see, then that's great.
