My bestie bought this book for me years ago and I finally read it. Can't believe I waited so long but I'm grateful for finally taking the time. An amazing writer. A wonderful story.

Very easy five star rating. This is phenomenal. The language is beautiful and the exploration of her identity as black, female and lesbian is fascinating. Seriously, go and read it. It will make your heart sing.

The website I was using to listen to the story stopped working 😭

I liked it though! Especially the parts about Lorde’s childhood.
I thought her recollections about her childhood were very insightful.

I thought about this book so much as I was reading it and then again since. Turns out I was completely wrong about the time period Audre Lorde was around in, and it was so fascinating to have a glimpse at life being in the lgbtq+ scene in 1950s New York. Or should I move to Mexico and live a more vibrant existence? Beautiful.
