I have literally only ever read Harrison Bergeron, of all Vonnegut’s woks, but this was touching and thought-prodding and really quite funny.

The petty DNF is that I disliked the narrator’s voice

I wish this was actually written by Vonnegut. It would have been so much better. Still, there were a lot of gems in here. 3.95 stars

Likely wont hit for everyone, but it hit for me. I typically hate writing advice, especially online, so it was nice to feel like I took a self guided class on writing based on the contradictory and mostly useless advice of my favorite author.
I found lots of good stuff in here and will probably return to it over time

You can find many things here, but you will definitely not learn much about writing. You will also find very few things you can't find in his stories, books or essays. What McDonnel adds is just some glue connecting various fragments. Maybe it would be better to just re-read some of Vonnegut's classics or check out the books you had no opportunity to read.
