This is such a cute quick read. At first I didn’t want to read it because I haven’t read the first book in the series but it was recommended by two different people and both of them said you don’t need to read the first one. They were correct. This was so nice to see a rich boy understand truly who they are and find the love of your life. I thought it was very sweet and I loved the ending.

Taylor Swift songs: “King of my heart”, “afterglow”

If you loved the relationship between David and Patrick on the show “Schitt’s Creek”, you will love this! This LGBTQIA+ holiday Romcom is such a joy. The story was adorable, the characters were so animated and lovable, and the mental health rep (GAD: Generalized Anxiety Disorder) was so refreshing. It was dealt with in such a real and relatable way. I have not a single thing bad to say about this, which is so rare for me. This was the good vibes retreat from reality that I do desperately needed right now. If you need a laugh, smile, or a good time, you need to read this book!

Also: The author is a swiftie, and it definitely shows! The dedication says “for the Ed to my Taylor” (I confirmed with the author that it is referring to Ed Sheeran and Taylor Swift!) They make the Taylor Swift Chai tea sugar cookies with eggnog icing! And have an apartment on Cornelia Street!! There are a few other smaller Easter eggs as well!

Age rating: 14+ (two extremely brief spicy scenes, 0.5/5🌶️)

Cute and fun holiday romance! Loved the Schitt’s Creek vibes and really enjoyed getting to have a classic holiday rom-com with lots of queer folks in the lead. No other thoughts— nothing groundbreaking, just a good time and a perfect holiday read. Points removed for the overuse of the word dude, though.

Actually! One additional thought: This kind of felt like what Paris Daillencourt could have been like or  wanted to be. They both feature rich gay leads with absent parents and anxiety disorders, but Matthew Prince dealt with it in a much better way and much stronger writing.

Well, I'll be darned if the small-town romance didn't thaw my stone-cold heart and make it grow three sizes. 5 stars. Only cause I'm feeling sappy.
