Many thanks to Netgalley and the publisher for providing a free copy to review.

Having studied history, and also taken a few classes in Middle Eastern history and Scandinavian history, I’ve always been aware that the Norse and Arabs interacted incredibly frequently. However, I never really delved into this specific history and see that as a bit of a shortcoming. That is, until now. This book is a collection of fascinating short stories that give space to what these interactions may have looked like.

All stories are accompanied by a picture and put together, it helps to activate the imagination as to what the real, historical record might have been like.

Recommended.

"An anthology of historical fiction which explores the intricate and often-overlooked interactions between intrepid Viking voyagers and inquisitive emissaries from the powerful Islamic kingdoms". The short-stories are all incredibly well-written and clearly researched. Stories vary from humorous to saga-like. The illustrations accompanying each story were a great addition.
