That was a dark and wild ride. This was a novella so there wasn’t as much character development as I normally like, but I felt like the characters were reasonably fleshed out for the shorter length.

I was actually pleased with the plot of the story. It wasn’t elaborate, but again felt reasonable and appropriate for being a novella and being a dark romance with a focus on more graphic sex scenes.

Overall, I thoroughly enjoyed. I would definitely read this again.

Uhm, not the book for me. It wasn't really the content, but the writing. I'm a little intrigued to keep going and read the full length, but not sure.

And there was a certain scene that left me a little speechless and slightly traumatized. Yet again just not for me.

I am not a fan of dark romance and maybe it affected my opinion, but honestly? Not much. The writing was painful to read. Contradictions within one paragraph (how are her stockings BOTH opaque and see-through?), inconsequential elements given way too much attention for a novella, “not like other girls” trope (mentioned about ten times at least), MMC weirdly mentions his huge pierced dick so many times I stopped counting, etc. I kind of liked how she stayed in the concept of Halloween (using corn as a dildo, pumpkin vines as restraints, etc.) and there was a pretty good amount of description, enough that you know where you are and what’s going on, but not so much that you get bored and get out of the flow of the story.

Please check the trigger warnings before reading!

Carving for Cara was a dark and spicy Halloween novella.

I loved the dual pov and getting to experience the plot from both perspectives. MMC Rhett wasn’t morally grey, he was fully unhinged. Loved the friendship between Cara & Sloan.

Need to know what happens after that ending. The only negative thing about the book was that it was so short.

This was fun. I do have to say this is 128 pages and nothing spicy happened until page 90. The tension was fun though. This is a dark read so if you don’t like dark romance don’t read this. I enjoyed this, but I wish there was a little more spice and I didn’t like how it ended. The writing was good for the most part. This is a perfect Halloween read.

While this is just a novella and understandably short, it definitely seemed a bit rushed. In terms of the spice, it definitely was descriptive, without being too much. The writing style, while not bad, just threw me off quite a bit. There’s also a lot of unnecessary detail included, for example the focus on the color of Cara’s lighter? It didn’t really make sense nor was  it relevant to the story telling. I was having to re-read to remind myself of the situation. If the writing itself wasn’t so confusing and all was less rushed, this could easily get more stars.
