This book took a while to get into, and even then felt slumpy. It seemed like a lot of filler and even when I got to the end, that not much had happened in the book? Helene’s storyline was the saving grace for me for most of it. Even so, left a lot to be desired.

What an evil, brutal book. First half is everyone not getting the vital information they need, information that might prevent the inevitable, but Sabaa Tahir is a master in torturing her readers. The stakes are even higher in book three and the violence, the bloody body count seems cruel...until you realize this is just the tip of the iceberg. Gah! How long until the next one is published?

Finally, I've finished this book. I don't know why it took me so long, maybe it's because of school. It was I little worse than the first two books but I still enjoyed it. The whole book is a little chaotic for me. I'm also disappointed that some threads weren't continued, for example: WHAT HAPPENED TO DARIN AND MUSA, I WANT TO KNOW. And Laia got a little annoying but she was still a great main character.
I love the world-building. It's just so clear and interesting for me! And the character development is also awesome. The relationship between Helene and Harper develops so well and realistically. Besides, I think Helene is my favourite character despite that she was really annoying in first two books. I love how Elias is trying to deal with his situation and his feelings. It was showed so good how he was trying to be with Laia but at the same time help the ghosts. And the plot was amazing, of course! There were some little plot twists that I really wasn't expecting and it was awesome, but It got a little boring sometimes.
I can't wait for next books to be released in my country, I'll for sure read them!! And it is, still, my favourite book series (right next to Six of Crows duology, ofc).

This wasn't my favorite book from the series. I didn't care as much for it, but I did enjoy seeing the characters. There was some really good character development in this book. The reason I didn't like this one more is because most of the time there wasn't anything going on. It was a lot of sitting around waiting for things to happen. I didn't really care for that aspect, but I can't wait for the fourth book to come out!

I love this series, but this book was my least favorite so far. A lot of world building took place - which I think is setting up the final book to be pretty epic. However, it just moved a little slower for me and wasn’t as blown away as I was for the first 2. Also I really wanted more chapters with the Night Bringer POV!! But Sabaa creates rich scenery and multifaceted characters so it’s hard to still not enjoy yourself while reading her stuff. Also her recent IG posts have me super concerned for my favorite characters in the final installment 😬.
