The only things keeping me from giving this a smooth 2 stars are the beauty of the language in this book and the overall concept. I initially thought the mass extinction plot line wasn’t focused enough for me, but I did appreciate the underlying nature of it - species are dying at a rate where the people in this book can’t think about it all the time. Aside from the pretty language and the dystopian backdrop this book was simply not for me. The narrator is insufferable in a way that I can’t put my finger on. I think it’s the “life is so hard but I’m sooo flighty hehe” nature of it all. Also I could see the “twist” at the end coming from 700 miles away. Not a bad book, but definitely not worth the hype I personally saw about it.

I didn’t like the way it ended (though it was appropriate for the genre). I would’ve liked to hear more about Ennis and the other friends she made on the fishing boat.

Migrations is an intimate, unraveling story about self-destruction, from the ways we sabotage ourselves and our relationships to the ways we wreak havoc on nature. Although I struggled to suspend my disbelief in the dying, near-future setting and in some of the character interactions, the prose was absolutely gorgeous and the mystery surrounding Franny Stone's enigmatic past unfurled artfully.

Franny was a very frustrating character to me, but written beautifully and in a way that I couldn't really help but liking her by the end of it. Supporting cast was charming and carried the message beautifully. A quick read with some really wonderful quotes, if this is already on your to read list it's worth the time

Viimeinen muuttolintu on surullinen kirja seikkailusta, menetyksestÀ, ekokatastrofista, rakkaudesta, ystÀvyydestÀ ja tietenkin lapintiiroista. Kirjassa on niin sanottu "found family" -piirre, jota rakastan kirjoissa. Tarina sijoittuu lÀhitulevaisuuteen ja on toiveikas dystopia. Viimeinen muuttolintu on monisyinen kertomus ja ruumiinavaus siihen, mitÀ on elÀÀ ja rakastaa.

Ainoa syy, joka jÀttÀÀ kirjan viiden tÀhden alapuolelle, on lopun kiirehdintÀ ja muutama epÀjohdonmukaisuus.
