Loved this so much, a perfect summary of the modern history of fashion and how capitalism has driven the industry. Absolutely a must read for anybody who wears clothes.

Very interesting book. I liked being introduced to a communist point of view and to see the maffia world behind fashion.

I read this in German.
As I am very interested in fashion, I wanted to learn more about the industry and experience an anticapitalist point of view on the subject.
The book was fascinating, but I found it quite hard to read. I am not used to sociologist writing that goes deeper than surface-level which at times for me made it feel a bit like a chore to read and is the reason I can't give a higher rating.
Through the discussion of all the topics the author wrote about, it became apparent that making the industry better is not an easy or straight-forward task and in the end boils down to tearing down capitalism (which is definitely not an easy task).
I had hoped for a bit more of a positive message, but on the other hand appreciate that the book stayed true to reality.

This was a good book on the shortcomings and massive issues within the fashion industry. The reason I didn't give this a higher rating, however, is because it wasn't exactly what I expected. I expected a lot more on sweatshops and the detrimental impact the fashion industry has had on the environment. This was present in the book but not as much as I expected.

Seriously well-researched. I'll never look at fashion and the clothes I wear everyday the same again.
