One of the classics that I've always wanted to read but I never found the courage or the right time to do so until now. Like everyone I knew this story only from what I've seen in the movie version. It was a long funny adventure which I enjoyed very much, also because the characters travelled to some Asian countries which is the part that I liked most, in addition to that romantic ending.

I want to read other French classic authors which I own the books but I never get to pick them up, I might do this from time to time.

Thanks to Children's Classic bookclub for their choice in the month of May for they gave me the opportunity to start reading this book.

"The chance which now seems lost may present itself at the last moment."

I still can't believe that I've never read a Jules Verne book before! Or at least not that I remember... This classic ended up fitting multiple challenges, so I decided to just dive in. I must say that I'm surprised by just how readable Around The World In 80 Days is considering it was written back in 1872! In fact, I flew through this classic and finished it in record time. I always love a good travel element in my stories, and this story will give you plenty of international destinations. True, some stops are extremely short, but main character Phileas Fogg and his valet Passepartout have plenty adventures along the way. I love that this whole trip was based on a bet, and the detective Mr. Fix added another fun angle. The writing itself was surprisingly engaging for a classic, and Around The World In 80 Days was more lighthearted than expected with a humor I could appreciate. It's definitely made me want to pick up more of his books now!

Look, this book has never exactly been a thrill ride, but it's a nice enough little jaunt that I never seem to mind too much.
