3.5-clever history lesson from the book's perspective. Quick read.

This is the story of "book". From the scrolling (rolling) days, to papyrus, the alphabet, moveable type, and even to the eBook. This book follows the history of the written word. It was interesting but having the "book" as the narrator was a little odd and I felt disjointed at times.

If you know me, I love books about books! When I first saw this at a bookstore a couple of weeks ago, I was intrigued and excited. Book (alternatively published as My Name is Book) is a succinct summary of the history of books, as narrated by the book himself! The illustrations and quotes are great! While I largely knew most of the history, I did learn some new bits.

Beautifully written, with great illustrations. In this slim volume we are treated to the story of the book, through the eyes of Book. Great intro to the history of books, while also getting us to consider our changing attitudes to reading.

What a great book about books.
I loved it! It had humor and was educational - I totally learned a lot about the origins of words and books.

The illustrations were fabulous too!

Pick it up, give it a go and enjoy! >(^_^)<

I found this by chance and enjoyed it so, so much. The only downside is the slight "all hail the Renaissance" vibes (despite the fact that we had also been excited about illuminated manuscripts!) and the brief "dumb religious people" moment.

It has lovely quotes from all over the place about books and a neat narrative voice to it--really fun in a nonfiction-y (fact-driven, anyway) story.

I'm curious to see if my siblings like it or not, as I'm not sure if it's a children's book or a simple adult/YA one.

Lovely book charting the development of the written word. Great facts, quotes and illustrations throughout. Written with "Book" as the narrator. Accessible for young and old!
