Loved this! Was so helpful in taking self care and mental health back to basics!! Mostly thing I already knew but would be perfect as someone looking to get into self help books and understand the basics

A really interesting, informative and entertaining read. Sure, none of it is particularly groundbreaking or advanced, but it’s perfect for people who don’t know a lot about psychology and/or don’t want to wade through tons of information to get to the main points. I like the way the book is organised, so that you can just flip to whatever section is suitable depending on where you are with your mental health in the moment. Dan’s narration is engaging and still somewhat lighthearted despite the subject matter, which I think provides a good balance - you don’t want to get depressed from reading a book that’s meant to help you with depression. And I also love the fact that all the information has been fact-checked by an actual psychologist who specialises in mental health so you know it’s pretty reliable. I’m sure I’ll be employing several of these exercises in the future.
Graphic: Mental illness
Moderate: Suicide attempt and Homophobia

I really liked that this book didn't use a lot of flowery, fluffy language. I think a lot of writing about mental health tends to be very broad and difficult to follow. This book had facts backed up by science and everything was immediately actionable. I didn't have to dig around to figure out, okay, but how do I use this? It was laid out right there for me. Nice.

Very easy to understand, good if you just start learning about mental health. The excercises from the first part seem very useful, it was an ok read but I already knew a lot of what Dan was explaining
