Fun and quick read. Not a lot of world building which is nice for a change because you can get right into the characters.

I really enjoyed Kristin Cashore's debut novel. It felt like a more mature version of a story Tamora Pierce might write -- but Katsa definitely felt less Mary Sue than some of Pierce's protagonists. I was pleasantly surprised by the depth I found here and will add her other novels to my to read list.

Pretty good, but not as good as I remembered it being lol. Sooooo many character development points that could've been expanded upon more but failed to do. Also has some info dumps at times. And probably could've gone through another round of editing tbh.

This book really surprised me. It wasn't at all what I expected, but that's a good thing because I really liked it. I thought there was a good mix of action and romance and it was a really unique and interesting plot line.
