This one was so good (especially the diversity and the heartfelt story that 100% made me cry) and the audio production was INCREDIBLE (including actual singing from a Broadway actor). Full review to come!

This was an alright romance although, since it's a music themed book, I would say it completely lacked crescendo's. Although it was generic I liked the effort of involving our main characters parents yet somehow even that seemed to fall slightly out of reach.

Because on the whole it was OK I cannot really blame it too much. More fast pacing and and more interaction between our couple would have made it better.

A queer Filipino novel about family and music and love? I hadn’t read that story before but I’m glad I did. This was delightful and adorable. I loved all the relationships in this one- romantic love, familial love and friendship love. My only regret is that I didn’t listen to the audiobook, I hear it was great.

Quito is trying to make it as musician in New York when his dad makes a big announcement that forces him to confront his past and reunite with his ex-bestfriend Emmett. They haven't spoken in years and Quito is convinced Emmett wont want anything to do with him, but he hopes that music has the power to bring them back together. This story is so sweet, weaving love and loss and growth in a complicated melody. I found myself fighting back tears a couple of times and cheesing just as much. You need the audiobook on this one. The addition of music adds so much color and emotion to the story, and the narrator is top notch. There is some miscommunication laced throughout, but it makes sense instead of seeming stupid and forced for the most part. I will say, the thing that kept them separated for most of the book they basically swept under the rug without much discussion. I wanted more from the acknowledgement of that issue and the pain it caused. That's really what keeps this from being 5 stars for me, but other than that I got completely immersed in the story and would love to read more from this author. And it isn’t explicitly stated, but I think Quito might have synesthesia from his descriptions of seeing music.

This queer Filipino love story was a total joy to read! I adored the characters, Tagalog, and mentions of Filipino food throughout.
