I’ve only read eight so far, but found this to be the least enjoyable Gamache novel yet. I’ve enjoyed the other books outside Three Pines, but this one was a slog. Between the Gregorian Chant history and the forced intensity of the Superintendent drama, it was all just too much. I miss the silliness that seeps into the mystery of the earlier books. The same thing that is completely missing from the Amazon series.

Interesting concept, but not my favorite of Louise Penny's mysteries. I did not really enjoy the side story of Francouer and disliked Beauvoir's choices in this story.
