I will admit my interest in the reading process did lower when I read the big
MEREDITH
in big letters on the page but god it hurt so good. That being said, it docks a star off because it just completely shifted the focus and balance of the novel.
A striking book, written with wit and heart and purpose, with strong representation of black LGBTIQ+ struggles and a focus on racial injustice.
A read I will be reccomending to friends.

I had to read it for school, and the triggering content made it difficult to finish and process. The complete lack of quotation marks and rarely used paragraph breaks was too tricky to get used to. At least the book led to lively class discussions, so that's something in its favor.
