This entire series is really, really good! Highly recommend the audiobooks because they're narrated by Kevin R Free, who is a very talented voice actor.

You'll either love this series or you'll hate it, it just depends on how much you like or relate to our POV character, MurderBot.

This book is the beginning of it's first narrative arc learning how to be a person and let itself love and be loved.

Popsugar 2020: A book with a robot, cyborg, or AI character.

I've planned to read this more than once. It's highly recommended, it's short, and it's fun. I'm so glad I finally did read it.
I liked how Murderbot is very laid-back and human in his laziness and disinterest. It's great. Having an AI that's sub-optimal is pretty clever. Everything about Murderbot is pretty clever actually.
It's also very relatable. I too don't pay attention to details and try to guess stuff that I should actually know, all way maintaining the air of being competent.

All in all, I'm very excited about this series.

I didn't really know what to expect going into this book. It was one of the Tor.com free monthly eBooks, and I was pleasantly surprised by the time I got to the end. I'm not a huge fan of first-person narrative but it worked here, and it quickly turned into a page-turner, to the point where I'm going to go buy the other ones. Nothing groundbreaking, but a well-written, entertaining twist on the machine-becoming-sentient trope. I'd say this is more a 3.5 star read than a 4. Minimal investment for an excellent return.
