It's Carter & Ashley's story!

I was excited when it was announced that they would be getting their own book.

We were introduced to them earlier in the series and of course Author Daisy Prescott delivered another couple to love in this series.

I loved how Ashley & Carter's story was full of drama, hilarious banter and gave just the right amount of romance that I've always enjoyed from Author Daisy Prescott.

This is a second chance romance that had my cherries bursting in pleasure.

I enjoyed the lessons this story showed us that you can't believe everything you hear.  You have to experience it yourself to know the true identity of it all.

Go Find out if Carter finally takes the plunge with showing his true feelings towards Ashley and if she can break down the image she has convinced everyone to believe...

One word: Goats!

I discovered Daisy Prescott late in the Wingmen series with Better Love. I love Prescott’s books because they are written completely from the male’s perspective. Not many romance books are and that’s what makes the stories so unique. I truly enjoyed this second chance love story that had a little taste of Romeo and Juliet (obviously without the tragic ending). This romance was a slow burn, there is no insta-love here. I loved the flashbacks so we also got to see their relationship in the past and what happened.

While the storyline itself stands alone very well, I wish I would have read the other books where these characters are introduced so I would feel a bit more connected to them. It took a bit longer to feel invested and I think that could have been cured by having read the previous books.

Ashley and Carter were so perfectly imperfect which made it much easier to be able to connect with them. Carter is beyond swoonworthy! He is a man with a plan to win back the girl he lost. He has a long term plan to make sure he can win her back for good but their never ending, sparks off the page, chemistry makes it hard to stick with it. Ashley was a hoot! She completely owns her personality and her past. She is completely unapologetic and I envy her in some ways. She is snarky and strong; you don’t want to mess with her.

Their romance was so sweet, full of humor, chemistry, and just the right amount of drama. Watching them fall back together was so fun! They have to work together to move beyond the family drama, the scandals, in order to find each other again.

P.S. Think I can talk the hubby into letting me get a goat?

Grateful to have received an ARC copy in exchange for an honest review.

Small Town Scandal is a second-chance romance about former high school sweethearts, Carter and Ashley, told from the perspective of Carter. I enjoy the Wingmen series because all the books in the series are told from the perspective of the hero, as opposed to the heroine.

I’ve read 3 out of the previous 4 books in this series. I enjoyed the first two books in the series, but unfortunately I found this installment in the Wingmen series a bit disappointing. Carter and Ashley haven’t really talked in 13 years - since they broke up/had a falling out in high school. The reader isn’t told what happened until later in the book. I understand the reasoning, there has to be some mystery, you can’t lay it out on the table right away. However, when Carter finally goes up to Ashley, he kisses her. I didn’t find it believable that Ashley would go off with him after years of avoiding each other and bickering whenever they did interact. I get that there was still attraction between the two of them, but I just found Ashley’s willingness to be a bit difficult to believe.

The progression of some of the dialogue was confusing. I’d find myself getting lost during their conversation, not understanding what was going on.

I know this was told from Carter’s point of view, and this may be an unfair critique, but I felt like I didn’t get information about Ashley’s feelings and train of thought. I don’t know what changed for her - to go from not wanting to be around Carter, to practically dating him. Was it really just the fact that he was being nice, finally ope and honest with her?

Overall, I was disappointed. I have enjoyed other books by Daisy Prescott, so it pains me to say that. I think Small Town Scandal is a nice story, but I think the characters and the plot could have been better developed.

I received an ARC from the author in exchange for an honest review.

Not quite a 5 star read like the other Wingmen books. I don't feel like I got to know Ashley as well as I would have liked. But it's always fun revisiting the rest of the gang, and I liked Carter's certainty when it came to how he felt about Ashley. I'd be interested in reading a book featuring Jonah, Ashley's brother. He intrigues me...

When I finished Small Town Scandal, I realized two things: I don't know how to rate this. And I couldn't find words to review it.
I am attempting to write a review 5days later. I have settled for 4stars, just because it feels right. And that's where I am stuck. I mean this book made me feel, a lot. It's not your huge drama and insta-love story. No this is typical Prescott. It's slow romance that is steady that somehow digs deep and settles into one's heart. It's a subtle thing and utterly beautiful.

I should admit that I haven't read all the books in the series. I kinda just hopped in and read this one. But the good news is, this works as a standalone. I am going to catch up with the rest of the series however since I wanna know what happened to the other couples.

The storyline is sweet. It's full of humor, plenty of romance, some nice smut and some interesting twists. Steady, yet captivating.
But the character building is what makes this so wonderful. I mean I really adore the cast. I love the relationship between the sibling. Found the families dynamics, interesting and realistic.
The entire story is written from Carter's POV. And it totally fell in love with him. He is a great male lead, I could relate to his insecurities, loved his humor, adored his "plans" and totally swooned for him generally. Ashley is a strong independent female, who is intelligent and loyal. I could totally see myself being friends with her. The two of them together? SWOON! They fit. In the messiest and perfect way. It feels real.

All of that is tied together with beautiful descriptions. Prescott's writing style is fun, clever and absolutely beautiful. And the bow on top of that? The descriptions of the island. Just mindblowing. I feel like I've been there. I felt the sun on my skin, the breeze in my hair. Absolutely gorgeously done.

What do you get when you take a guy, some goats, and a fiery-haired vixen with a chip on her shoulder and put them all together? You have SMALL TOWN SCANDAL, the fifth book in the Wingmen series by author Daisy Prescott.

Whidbey Island might be one of my most favorite places ever. For such a small town, there sure is always something going on, and it's usually shenanigans of the very best sort. Carter Kelso is pretty much the last unattached Wingmen standing, unless you count Olaf, and, well, no...Carter, though, is ready to change things up, to show everyone that he is more than just a slacker, content to drift through life. He's got his goats, he's got his goals, and he'd really like to have another chance with Ashley Kingston.

Carter and Ashley have what you might call a complicated past. Thanks to small-town gossip, Ashley has somehow earned a less-than-pure reputation, and she's happily embracing it, if only to show her fellow Whidbeyites that she's in control of her own life, thank you very much. But Carter knows the truth behind the lies, and he's ready to make Ashley his own, in a very public and very permanent way.

These stories, these characters, they have won my heart so many times over that they feel like real-life. The picture that Daisy so expertly paints is one of the unexpectedly complex and intertwined lives of people in a small town, where there is often so much more going on than meets the eye, and people are continually surprising each other with the way that they rise above expectations.

Carter's and Ashley's story has been a long time in the making, and I thoroughly enjoyed seeing them finally sort things out. This is one second-chance love story that deserves the happiest of endings, because the two of them have gone through so much to come back to each other. And, through it all, there are laugh-out-loud moments that I've come to expect and that I adore so much in Daisy's writing, characters that continue to delight because they are so darned much like the rest of us, and a place that I wish I could visit, because it just seems so magical.

This Wingman has finally settled down, and I couldn't be happier to see it. I'm not giving up hope that Daisy's got more Whidbey in store for us, though, because there's still Ashley's brother Jonah, and, well, Olaf. 5 stars for SMALL TOWN SCANDAL. If you've not read these books, you must, because they are just the best. Add them to your TBR, and enjoy.
