This is one of the best collections of essay on fairy tales I have read (and I've read a lot). Ms Langrish is effortlessly erudite drawing on lesser known tales and more popular ones to draw fresh conclusions, whilst remaining engaging for a casual reader of fairytales and folklore. I particularly loved the essays on the value of mythical thinking, and time stopped in Briar Rose.
