I actually enjoyed this a lot more than I thought I was going to!
The plot definitely had gaps and there were a few far fetched moments towards the end, but overall I actually quite liked it

While Rhys Bowen does an absolutely amazing job of describing Tuscany, the overall plot didn't really seem to grasp my interest. We follow two timelines: Hugo during WWII, and then his daughter, Joanna during the 1970s. The beginning was quite slow, and I didn't really find myself caring about Hugo's storyline. However, things started to pick up in the middle when there was a mystery thrown in, but the ending just felt too rushed. I did like her writing, so I will look into her other works, but this book probably won't stick with me.

Easy read and I always love historical fiction, but it’s seems more like a movie of the TV movie.

I really enjoyed this book. The authors description’s of the Italian food and countryside is exactly how it is in real life and make it clear in your imagination. The mystery keeps you guessing for the entire story and I was sad when it ended. I would highly recommend this book.
