andrearbooks's review against another edition

This is an incredibly heavy read, and it's meant to be. The author follows Dasani and her family over EIGHT YEARS. There were times as I was listening that I had to remind myself that this was a reporter who was telling a true story that she followed along with through these years. There is hope here as the title notes, but there's lots of challenge, too. I listened to this as an audiobook, and I think that's the best way to consume the story. It allows you to feel the emotions of Dasani's story, and you are going to feel so, so many feels.
