This book was so fun to read. It was chaotic in an intentional way. It is about Rowley writing a fantasy story. We get to see him writing it and we see the story he is writing. It included a male cow named Stephen, Medusa, Sherlock Holmes, Santa, and many other unforgettable characters. It took so many wild turns and I read it in less than an hour.

My 9 yo son read this on his own and loved it so much he read it twice more with each parent. Plenty of jokes for grown ups to enjoy alongside their kiddos, and positive messages about creativity, friendship and self-esteem throughout.

This was not as fun. I barely smiled while reading it. It made me feel like an adult who's reading middle - grade stuff and complaining about how unfunny they are.
I don't know why there's a drop in quality in the series, but I really hope it gets better.

obviously a children’s book, i found it on my shelf and read it casually in a few hours. pretty good, i think as a child i would’ve really enjoyed it and it doesn’t really stick on one path so it would keep me interested as well, plus has breaks between the ‘chapters’ so they’re good pause points if you were reading it to a child, because i remember when i was younger and my dad never having a good point to pause at but i know this book wouldn’t have that problem.
