I started out very intrigued in the premise of this book. I was disappointed to find out it was part of a series because I hate picking up in the middle of something. My major complaint in this book was how everything went down in the end. I detest a book that wraps up all of its loose ends in just a couple of pages.

Lisa Jackson is and always will be one of my favorite authors. She never fails to write a book that keeps me on the edge of my seat trying to guess what's going to happen next.
Malice is a MUST for mystery lovers and those who have yet to discover the talented Ms. Jackson!

I love the New Orleans series but I felt Malice was a bit long and drawn out.Too much back and forth, with the ghost sightings, and chasing after a woman whom we thought was his dead wife. With this book I found myself counting how many more chapters I had to read before I was finished.

Not horrible, but rather melodramatic with a ridiculous motivation on the part of the killer.

Just ho hum. In all honesty, I didn't actually finish it. The story line was ok, but it is possible I just wasn't in the mood for a run of the mill mystery/thriller.

I absolutely love to read anything by this author.

I have read so many thrillers, that it's often easy for me to figure out the "whodunnit" very early in a book. NOT SO with Lisa Jackson, she somehow manages to throw out enough hints that you might be able to figure it out, but somehow keeps you second guessing your guesses.

I love the rich history of the characters, and this story was very intriguing.

I have made it my mission to finish this series. I have been a fan of Lisa Jackson for many many years, in fact I have handed this series out to half of the women I work with. I love the combination of Bentz and his partner and each book is full of twists and turns that it is something i had a hard time putting down. Well done!

This is the first book I picked up in the mystery genre so I was definitely surprised at what I was reading. There is so much detail and information piled behind character narration. But I have to say, it literally felt like I was sitting in the senerios and situations with each narrator, how much detail that should be deemed unnecessary, but paints very vivid images of normal moments. I did like Rick Bentz, a lot... though I found it weird that everyone else despised him like he was diseased or something. I didn't even realize that this book was part of a series, so maybe everyone disliking him is explained somewhere. My favorite part of the writing style was how it flowed from distant description to literally being in the person's mind in the intense moments.

Once again, I'm unfamiliar with this genre so I may be skeptical over things that are the norm. Either way, I was expecting something supernatural at the end with all the hype of Jennifer being possibly alive, and somewhat disappointed at what was really going on. I was also shocked when the murderer was revealed since she seemed part of the crowd of anti-Bentz, and for what exactly he did to make her go that berserk, I'm not sure. Maybe I'm missing information from a previous book. But I did enjoy the book, the raw emotions, how insane Bentz becomes to the point of comical, the amusing personalities of the supporting characters. I wouldn't read it again but it was quite entertaining!
